Tucson Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved shooting on Southside

TUCSON (KVOA) — News 4 Tucson has obtained new information regarding a tragic officer-involved shooting that took place on Tucson’s southside in early July.

On July 12, law enforcement officers responded to a residential property in the southeast area of the city following a report of a home invasion and armed robbery.

The primary suspect, identified as 30-year-old Daniel Sheehan, was located at a residence near Park Avenue, just south of Silverlake, later that evening.

Tucson Police Department’s SWAT team and hostage negotiators made attempts to communicate with Sheehan, who had barricaded himself inside the house.

Despite their efforts, Sheehan remained uncooperative and was observed wielding a handgun equipped with a laser sight.

When a member of the SWAT team noticed Sheehan aiming his weapon at the officers through a window, he discharged a single round from his department-issued rifle, striking Sheehan.

Medical personnel on the scene attempted to revive Sheehan, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
