The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has announced the arrest of two suspects in relation to the tragic death of a 17-year-old teenager in a hit-and-run incident.

On July 24, at approximately 10:39 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received reports of a pedestrian hit-and-run crash at the intersection of North La Cholla Boulevard and West Wetmore Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the injured 17-year-old victim, identified as Isaac Benitez. Benitez was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit and Homicide Unit launched a thorough investigation, leading to the identification of two individuals associated with the case: 18-year-old Anthony Duran and a 17-year-old juvenile.
Both Duran and the juvenile suspect were located and subsequently interviewed by detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the investigation, an altercation occurred involving Benitez, Duran, and the juvenile suspect.
Authorities state that Duran and the juvenile suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, tragically dragging Benitez along.
Duran and the juvenile suspect have been arrested on charges of reckless manslaughter. They have been booked into the Pima County Jail, while the investigation remains ongoing.
