RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Three United States Marines were discovered unresponsive inside a vehicle at a gas station in Hampstead, North Carolina. Tragically, it has been determined that the cause of their deaths was carbon monoxide poisoning, according to autopsies conducted by the North Carolina medical examiner’s office on Wednesday. The Pender County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the bodies of the three lance corporals on Sunday morning. Sgt. Chester Ward of the sheriff’s office stated that the incident appears to be accidental. The deceased Marines have been identified as 19-year-old Tanner J. Kaltenberg and 23-year-olds Merax C. Dockery and Ivan R. Garcia.
