In light of the significance and impact of this incident, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has decided to release a more detailed timeline of events based on the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) entries.

The entire CAD printout spans 122 pages, starting from the initial 911 call and ending with the officer-involved shooting in Gresham. While the timeline provided is not a complete record of the event, it highlights the main points of interest. Information regarding the officer-involved shooting will be released at an appropriate time following the completion of the investigation and the Grand Jury Process. The timeline begins at 10:55 when a threats call is made to 911. At 10:59, two officers and a sergeant are dispatched to Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in response to the call. The officers are informed that a man at the hospital is making physical threats to staff, and hospital security provides a partial description of the suspect. By 11:04, the first officers arrive on the scene, and at 11:10, dispatch notifies that a hospital security officer has been injured.

The officers request resources to lock down all entrances and exits at 11:11, and by 11:13, they obtain a description of the suspect, which is broadcasted over the air. The PPB sergeant requests a citywide police response at 11:16, and at 11:18, Portland’s Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are activated. It is important to note that at 11:17, officers on the 5th floor shooting scene do not observe any signs of an active shooter or active threat incident.

At 11:20, officers report that the victim is receiving emergency medical care, and by 11:23, dispatch continues to broadcast shots fired calls and sighting information from individuals inside the hospital. The first information suggesting that the suspect was seen leaving the hospital on a moped is received at 11:23. Hospital security reviews security footage and confirms that the suspect left the hospital at around 11:18.

At 11:29, a passerby alerts an officer that a possible suspect may have entered the nearby Fred Meyer store on Burnside. As a result, resources begin shifting towards the Fred Meyer, and officers broadcast that they are evacuating the building at 11:31. By 11:35, officers have reviewed the hospital security footage and update the suspect’s description and clothing. Photographs from the security footage are disseminated to all Bureau members.

He broadcasts this information over the radio and requests assistance. The sergeant observes the suspect getting into what appears to be a white Ford van or ambulance. The van drives off, and the sergeant follows, providing updates until the van is eventually stopped at Northeast 181st Avenue and Northeast Everett Court in Gresham.

The investigation into the incident involving the hospital shooting suspect is ongoing at the Gresham location. The officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Gresham Police Department, with the assistance of the East County Major Crimes Team. The identities of the officers involved will be released within 15 days, as per policy.

In addition to the external investigations, the Portland Police Bureau will conduct an internal review of the entire incident, including the initial response, resources requested, tactics used, and post-shooting actions.
