The Kansas City, Kansas police have officially named the suspect facing charges and the victim who tragically lost her life in a fatal stabbing incident on Friday. Officer Jovanna Cheatum, spokesperson for the KCKPD, released a statement providing these details.

According to previous reports from The Star, law enforcement officers were called to the scene at a residence on Nebraska Avenue in the 700 block, where the stabbing incident is believed to have occurred. The authorities swiftly took Robert Simpson, a 66-year-old man, into custody. Investigators have charged Simpson with second degree murder in Wyandotte County. He is currently being held in the Wyandotte County jail on a bond set at $150,000.

The victim, identified as Latasha Williams, a 43-year-old Kansas City resident, tragically lost her life in this horrific incident. Her untimely death marks the 14th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas in 2023, as reported by data maintained by The Star.
