(This article has been updated to reflect the outcome of a bond hearing held on Thursday.)
SALISBURY — Four individuals involved in a violent incident on Furniture Drive earlier this month have been taken into custody.
Riki Lyn Hyronemus, aged 42, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, as well as injury to personal property. Her bond was set at $200,000 by a judge during a bond hearing held on Thursday.
Jaden Law Senesayho, aged 18, and Khai Thanh Vo, aged 22, are facing similar charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, as well as injury to personal property. Their bonds were set at $50,000 each.
Senesayho and Vo, who are Hyronemus’ sons, were allegedly involved in the attack on Chandler Kluttz that took place on July 10. Kluttz was hospitalized as a result of the incident.
All three individuals were apprehended on Wednesday.
A fourth son will be charged as a juvenile, but law enforcement authorities have not released his identity to the public.
According to reports, the victim and Hyronemus had a previous relationship but were no longer together.
During the assault on July 10, the male victim sustained a broken arm and a head wound.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office stated that a deputy responded to a report of an alleged assault at Atrium Health Northeast in Concord. The deputy interviewed the woman identified as Kluttz’s girlfriend who was present during the incident. She informed the deputy that they were in Salisbury around 7:30 p.m. and decided to drive down Furniture Drive, where they parked near the solar panel farm.
It was at that location that two vehicles approached them. According to the female victim, she recognized Kluttz’s ex-girlfriend in one of the vehicles. The other vehicle contained three male occupants, who were identified as the ex-girlfriend’s sons. The sons allegedly approached Kluttz’s vehicle and began striking it with pipes and hammers, causing damage to the windows and tires.
Upon seeing this, Kluttz and his girlfriend exited their vehicle to confront the assailants. During the confrontation, the girlfriend was also assaulted. As the victims returned to their vehicle, one of the male assailants struck Kluttz in the head with a hammer. The girlfriend pleaded with the ex-girlfriend, questioning why she allowed the assault to happen. Following her pleas, the assault came to an end.
A spokesperson from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office stated that the case remains open and under investigation.
