According to preliminary investigations, the southbound 2016 Kia Optima disregarded the warnings at a marked railroad crossing. The safety arms were activated and lowered, and the red flashing lights were actively illuminating and flashing, as stated in the troopers’ report. Despite these signals, the driver maneuvered the vehicle around the safety arms and onto the tracks, resulting in a collision with a CSX freightliner train. The impact occurred on the passenger’s side of the car, tragically claiming the lives of the two occupants inside.

The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Dallas Corbin Dozier, a student at Hawkinsville High School, and his mother, 34-year-old Brandy Elizabeth Drinnon of Cordele, according to both the official report and Drinnon’s obituary. Wilcox County sheriff’s deputies stated that both individuals were thrown from the car during the collision, with Dozier behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Dozier was remembered as a well-mannered young man who enjoyed gaming, as mentioned in his obituary. On the other hand, Drinnon, a self-employed tattoo artist, was known for her passion for drawing, listening to music, fishing, and spending time at the beach with her family.

The memorial service for Dozier was held on July 23rd, while his mother’s service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25th. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
