Three Marine lance corporals stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, were found dead on Sunday at a gas station in Hampstead. The men were identified as Tanner J. Kaltenberg, 19, of Madison, Wisconsin; Merax C. Dockery, 23, of Pottawatomie, Oklahoma; and Ivan R. Garcia, 23, of Naples, Florida. The cause of death is still unknown, and the Pender County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected in the deaths of the three men. Sergeant Chester Ward of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office mentioned that no drugs were found in the vehicle, and there does not appear to have been any threat to the community. The department also mentioned that the cause of death might be something that is not immediately visible.

Although the cause of death has not been determined, authorities do not believe it to be suicide. Sergeant Ward stated that it seemed more like an accidental death. Autopsy results are expected to be released by Wednesday evening.

The U.S. Marine Corps expressed their condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased lance corporals. Brigadier General Michael McWilliams, commanding general of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group, stated that their focus is on providing resources and support to those affected by this tragic loss during this difficult time.
