“Colorado Springs Woman, Son, and Sister Found Dead in Remote Campsite”

Three bodies found at a campsite in Gunnison County, Colorado have been identified as a woman, her son, and her sister. The family had reportedly gone off the grid and set up a long-term camp in the mountains. One body was found by a hiker, and deputies later discovered two more. No vehicle was found at the campsite, and it is believed that the family may have died due to exposure to the elements or malnutrition after running out of food. Foul play is not suspected. In a tragic incident, a woman, her son, and her sister were found dead at a campsite in the mountains near a wilderness area northeast of Gunnison, Colorado. The bodies, which were in a decomposed state, have been identified as Rebecca Vance, 42, Christine Vance, 41, and Rebecca’s 14-year-old son. The three had apparently chosen to live off the grid and had set out on their adventure in July last year.

The discovery was made by a hiker on July 9 near the Gold Creek Campground, approximately 7 miles from Ohio City. Sheriff’s deputies subsequently found two more bodies at the campsite. Surprisingly, no vehicle was found, suggesting that the women and the boy had been living in a long-term camp.

According to Gunnison County Coroner Michael Barnes, the trio had likely tried to camp through the winter and may have died due to exposure to the elements or malnutrition after running out of food. While a final toxicology analysis is pending, no evidence of foul play has been found so far.

The family members of the deceased had been aware of their plan to live off the grid, although they were not aware of the specific location. It is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks associated with living in remote areas without access to basic amenities and supplies.
