The family of Tony Parsons, a charity cyclist who was tragically killed by a drink-driver in 2017, have paid tribute to him as a “much-loved” husband, dad, and grandad. Alexander McKellar admitted to hitting Mr. Parsons with his car on the A82 near Bridge of Orchy and pleaded guilty to culpable homicide. McKellar’s twin brother, Robert, also admitted to attempting to defeat the ends of justice. The court heard that the brothers had moved Mr. Parsons’ body to a wooded area and buried him there.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Mr. Parsons’ family expressed their love and loss. They described him as a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and had a passion for fishing. He was also involved in sports, particularly golf and rugby.

The family expressed their gratitude to the court officials, police officers, volunteers, and mountain rescue teams who worked on the case and tirelessly searched for Mr. Parsons. They also thanked the local community for their assistance and the members of the public who provided information.

Finally, the family requested privacy as they grieve and come to terms with the outcome of the trial and the loss of Mr. Parsons. They expressed hope that the court outcome would bring them some closure.

Detective Inspector Fraser Spence, of Police Scotland’s major investigation team, acknowledged the distress caused to Mr. Parsons’ family by the actions of the McKellar brothers. He expressed his thoughts and condolences to the family and thanked the community and officers involved in the case.
