Three U.S. Marines from Camp Lejeune were found dead in a car at a gas station in North Carolina. The Marines have been identified as Lance Corporal Tanner J. Kaltenberg, Lance Corporal Merax C. Dockery, and Lance Corporal Ivan R. Garcia. They were all motor vehicle operators with Combat Logistics Battalion 2. The cause of death has not been released, and an investigation is underway. Brig. Three U.S. Marines from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, were found dead in a car at a gas station in the Hampstead community over the weekend. The Marines have been identified as Lance Corporal Tanner J. Kaltenberg, Lance Corporal Merax C. Dockery, and Lance Corporal Ivan R. Garcia. All three were motor vehicle operators with Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group.

The cause of their death has not been released, and an investigation is currently being conducted by the Pender County Sheriff’s Department. Medical examiners pronounced them dead at the scene. The tragedy has left the community in shock and mourning.

Brig. Gen. Michael E. McWilliams, the commanding general of 2nd Marine Logistics Group, expressed his condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the Marines. He urged everyone to pray for them during this difficult time.

North Carolina Senator Ted Budd also expressed his sympathies and called for prayers for the families and friends of the deceased Marines.

Lance Cpl. Kaltenberg, Lance Cpl. Dockery, and Lance Cpl. Garcia had recently entered active duty service, with Kaltenberg starting in May 2021, Dockery in June 2021, and Garcia in July 2019. They had previous duty assignments in different locations, including Marine Corps Recruit Depots and Motor Transport Instruction Companies.
