Julian Sands’ Cause of Death Deemed “Undetermined”

The cause of death of actor Julian Sands has been deemed “undetermined” by officials. The 65-year-old actor was last seen in the Mount Baldy area of California in January. Human remains were discovered by civilian searchers in June, and it was later confirmed that they belonged to Sands. However, due to the condition of his body, an exact cause of death cannot be determined.

Officials stated that this is common in cases like this, where the body has been left in a deteriorated state. The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results.

Sands’ disappearance sparked a massive search effort, with eight searches conducted by ground and air. Poor conditions in the area and the risk of avalanches had hindered the search efforts, leading to halts in March. However, in June, 80 search and rescue volunteers, deputies, and staff, along with helicopters and drone crews, set out to locate Sands.

The identification process for the body found on Mt. Baldy was completed on June 24, 2023, positively identifying it as Julian Sands. Officials expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to locate him.

Sands is survived by his wife, Eugenia Citkowitz, and their daughters Imogen Morley, 26, and Natalya Morley, 23, as well as his son Henry from a previous marriage.

Julian Sands was known for his roles in films such as “Room with a View” and “Leaving Las Vegas.” He was also an avid hiker and mountaineer, which led to his disappearance while walking in the Mount Baldy area.
