On July 21, 2023, the Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to various incidents throughout the day. The day started with an overdose at a residence on Fountain Avenue in Magnetic Springs, which required the assistance of deputies and units from the Northwestern Fire District. No report was taken regarding this incident.

Later in the morning, a property damage crash occurred on Honda Parkway involving a Toyota Camry and a Mercedes-Benz E420. The driver of the Toyota was issued a traffic citation for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

Throughout the day, deputies also responded to mental health crises, property damage crashes, and arrest warrants. One notable incident involved the arrest of Earl A. Grant III for an outstanding warrant. Another incident involved a dispute over personal property at a barn on State Route 4, which did not result in a report being taken.

In the evening, a domestic dispute between family members occurred on West Mansfield Mount Victory Road. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was eventually located and arrested for domestic violence, persistent disorderly conduct, and obstructing official business.

The day continued with property damage crashes, an impaired driver arrest, a shooting incident with BB guns involving juveniles, and an injury crash on State Route 38. Deputies also responded to a prisoner escape at the West Central Community Correctional Facility. The suspect was eventually located and charged with escape.

The day ended with calls regarding possible domestic disputes, an impaired driver arrest, and an assist to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for a possible burglary in progress.
