A 42-year-old man from West Warwick, Rhode Island, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the arm over the weekend. The incident occurred on Capron Street, where the victim sought refuge in a neighbor’s house after being assaulted by her boyfriend, Jason Jackvony.

According to the police, Jackvony then broke into the neighbor’s home and continued the assault on both the woman and the two other residents of the house. When the authorities arrived, they discovered the woman with a gunshot wound to her arm. She was promptly rushed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for her non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Monday, the victim remains hospitalized. Meanwhile, Jackvony has been taken into custody and charged with several offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon, domestic sexual assault, discharging a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, breaking and entering, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Additionally, he faces charges related to the possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation and possession of large capacity magazines.

Following his arrest, Jackvony appeared before a bail commissioner on Sunday and was subsequently denied bail. He has also been issued a no-contact order, preventing him from contacting the victim. The suspect is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on Monday morning.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring the safety of victims. It highlights the need for authorities and communities to provide support, resources, and education to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future..
