A 24-year-old Indian student working as a food delivery partner was tragically killed in Canada’s Mississauga city. Gurvinder Nath was assaulted by unidentified suspects in an attempt to steal his vehicle, according to media reports. The incident occurred on July 9 at Britannia and Creditview roads.

Nath was violently assaulted by multiple suspects and left critically injured. His vehicle was stolen during the attack. Witnesses came to his aid, and he was rushed to a trauma center. Sadly, Nath succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on July 14.

Investigations reveal that there are multiple suspects involved, and the food order was placed as a means to lure the driver to a specific area. An audio recording of the pizza order placed before the attack has been obtained by the police.

A candlelight vigil was held in Mississauga in honor of Gurvinder, with more than 200 people attending. The 24-year-old had arrived in Canada in 2021 with plans to start his own business.

Gurvinder’s vehicle was found abandoned a few hours after the incident, less than 5 km away from the assault site. Inspector Phil King of Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau believes that the vehicle might have been abandoned due to the unexpected injuries inflicted on the victim. Several pieces of evidence have been recovered from the vehicle.

At this point, no connection has been established between Gurvinder and his attackers. His body will be flown to India on July 27 with the assistance of the Consulate General of India in Canada.

Gurvinder’s family described him as innocent and stated that he was just delivering pizza when he was randomly attacked. Siddhartha Nath, Consul General of India in Toronto, expressed his condolences to the victim’s kin, calling Gurvinder’s death a “heartrending loss.”

This tragic incident has deeply affected the community, with many coming together to support the family both online and physically. It serves as a testament to the spirit of solidarity and empathy within the community during times of grief..
