On July 21, tragedy struck the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) in Texas when Deputy David “Dave” Bosecker was killed in the line of duty. Deputy Bosecker was responding to a domestic disturbance call when he was ambushed and fatally wounded. The incident occurred on Highway 183 between Rising Star and Cisco.

Deputy Bosecker had served in law enforcement for over 21 years, dedicating his career to protecting and serving the community. Throughout his career, he worked with various agencies, including the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Comanche Police Department. At the time of his murder, he was also serving as a part-time marine enforcement officer with the Cisco Police Department.

Following the attack, additional deputies arrived at the scene and apprehended the gunman, identified as Cody Pritchard. He was arrested and booked on a capital murder charge.
