“Man from Ohio Dies in Lake Powell Cliff Jumping Accident”

A tragic cliff jumping accident at Lake Powell has resulted in the death of a man from Ohio. The incident occurred in Bullfrog Basin, Kane County, within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Witnesses reported that the man had jumped off a 50-foot tall cliff and failed to resurface. Search efforts were immediately initiated by Glen Canyon rangers, Kane County sheriff’s deputies, and Utah Department of Natural Resources officers.

After a day of searching, the Utah Department of Public Safety’s dive team located the victim’s body using sonar scan technology. The body was found approximately 30 feet underwater. The man has been identified as Cory Ryan Ehrnschwender, 36, from Cincinnati. His body was transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner in Salt Lake City, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
