On July 19, Syracuse Police made another arrest in connection with the Massena Street Gathering incident. A 17-year-old female was identified as one of the assailants involved in the assault that took place during the gathering. The victim suffered a head laceration requiring multiple stitches, as well as other minor injuries. The suspect has been charged with Gang Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
In a previous update on June 29, two suspects, a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old female, were arrested for their involvement in the assault that occurred on June 11. Both suspects were part of a group of females who planned the attack on a 19-year-old female victim. The victim sustained a head wound that required stitches, along with other minor injuries. The 16-year-old and 17-year-old females were charged with Gang Assault in the Second Degree.

The incident on June 11 involved a large block party on Davis Street, near Massena Street, where chaos erupted, resulting in at least 13 people being shot, stabbed, or hit by vehicles. Police responded to the scene and found approximately 200 people gathered in the street. Chief Joe Cecile described the scene as tremendously chaotic, with people fleeing in all directions. The victims, all between the ages of 17 and 25, were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
These incidents highlight the increasing occurrence of “pop-up” parties, which are often organized through social media and take place on city streets without permits. Chief Cecile warned that similar parties can be expected as graduation season and warmer months approach. The Syracuse Police Department is actively investigating the incidents and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
The community has been shaken by these acts of violence, with witnesses recounting the fear and trauma they experienced during the events. The police are reviewing surveillance footage as part of their ongoing investigation to identify additional suspects and gather evidence..
