The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into the shooting deaths of Timothy Crimmins and Robert Reid. According to the evidence and investigation, it has been determined that Mr. Reid killed Mr. Crimmins before taking his own life.

The investigation began on March 16, 2023, when deputies were dispatched to the residence to check on Timothy Crimmins, who had not been heard from for several days. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Crimmins’ body hidden under a tarp outside of the home. It was later confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound.

While at the scene, a deputy noticed another vehicle parked in the area and requested backup. When backup arrived, they found the lone occupant, Robert Reid, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Based on the timing and circumstances, it was clear that Mr. Reid had shot himself after arriving at the location. Additionally, cleaning supplies were found in his vehicle, indicating that he was likely preparing to dispose of Mr. Crimmins’ body and clean the crime scene.

The investigation involved obtaining a search warrant for the home, conducting interviews, reviewing physical and electronic evidence, and analyzing ballistics evidence. It was revealed that Mr. Crimmins’ wounds were consistent with a shotgun and ammunition owned by Mr. Reid.

The Sheriff’s Office had responded to multiple calls for service at the residence since the beginning of the year, due to ongoing disputes between Mr. Crimmins and Mr. Reid regarding rent payments and possible evictions.

Based on the evidence and thorough investigation, detectives determined that Mr. Reid acted alone in carrying out the murder of Mr. Crimmins and subsequently taking his own life. There is no indication that others were involved in this murder-suicide.

The case has been presented to the District Attorney’s Office, which agreed with the Sheriff’s Office’s conclusion. No further investigation is required, as it appears that Mr. Reid acted alone in this tragic incident.
