A multiple vehicle injury crash occurred on Thursday in Howell Township, resulting in several people being injured. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the crash at around 2:27 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of E. Grand River and Owosso Road to investigate the incident.
According to preliminary investigations, a 2011 Mercedes Benz SUV was traveling south on Owosso Road when it failed to yield at the intersection. As a result, it was struck by a 2005 Toyota Camry that was traveling west on Grand River. The impact forced the Camry into the eastbound lane, where it was then hit by a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling east on Grand River.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 20-year-old man from Westland, sustained injuries despite wearing his seat belt. The driver of the Camry, a 66-year-old man from Fowlerville, suffered life-threatening injuries. Fire personnel had to extricate him from the vehicle before he was transported to the U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Silverado, a 58-year-old woman from Fowlerville, and her 81-year-old female passenger were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The passenger was transported to St. Joseph Livingston Hospital in Howell for treatment of minor abrasions.
Authorities have ruled out speed and alcohol as contributing factors in the crash. The road was closed for approximately four hours to facilitate the investigation and clean-up process. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
