The mother of one of the suspects in the deadly shooting at a Walmart Store in Florida City expressed her deep regret and disappointment regarding the incident. Revita Brown, the mother of Jimari Hodge, one of those arrested, stated that her son made the wrong choices and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Brown spoke exclusively to CBS News Miami’s Peter D’Oench on the same day that Miami-Dade police announced the arrest of three individuals connected to the shooting, including the gunman.

According to police, the shooting occurred after two groups of men engaged in a fight inside the store. One of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire, resulting in the death of Nathaniel Baez and injuring several others, including a 72-year-old bystander. Steve Lestin has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted felony murder, while Robert Acevedo and Jimari Hodge have been charged with battery.

Brown expressed her condolences to those affected by the incident and emphasized that she had no prior knowledge of her son’s involvement. She stated that she always tried her best to guide him towards the right path in life. Brown plans to have a conversation with her son upon his return home to address the situation.

Cell phone videos captured chaotic scenes inside the store, with bystanders providing aid to the gunshot victim and others in shock. Witnesses recalled the panic and fear they experienced during the shooting.

Police have confirmed that all suspects involved in the shooting have been apprehended, and they are not actively searching for anyone else in connection with the incident. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing..
