Florissant Woman Sentenced to 23 Years for Assaulting Deputy During Traffic Stop

Tiffany Kanzler, a 29-year-old woman from Florissant, Missouri, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for assaulting a county deputy during a traffic stop. The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced the sentence on Thursday, revealing that Kanzler had pleaded guilty in May to several charges, including second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and first-degree property damage.

The incident occurred on January 5, 2022, when officers stopped a GMC Denali that was suspected of casing the area around Interstate 70 and Fifth Street. While officers were speaking to the individuals in the vehicle, Kanzler, who was driving, intentionally drove into a police vehicle, striking a deputy who was awaiting prisoner transport. The injured deputy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but his vitals were stable.

After hitting the deputy, Kanzler and her accomplices fled the scene and drove into St. Louis County, where they crashed into a Cottleville Police Department patrol car. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered a gun and 40 fentanyl pills. Kanzler’s passenger, Aaron Walker, was also arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. Walker was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The severity of Kanzler’s sentence reflects the seriousness of her crimes and the impact they had on law enforcement officers. Assaulting a law enforcement officer is a grave offense that undermines the safety and authority of those who protect and serve the community.

This case serves as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions. The sentence handed down to Kanzler sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated, and those who commit crimes against law enforcement will face significant consequences..
