Two men accused of committing a double murder in the Timbergrove area earlier this year have been apprehended in Vietnam. Polie Phan, 26, and Jaidan Vu Nguyen, 25, are facing capital murder charges for the fatal shootings of James Martin, 37, and Dana Ryssdal, 35. The two suspects were located in Vietnam and will be extradited to Harris County to face trial.

Authorities had been searching for Phan and Nguyen for over six months before their arrest. Another person, Kathy Vu, 23, was previously arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the case. She allegedly cleaned up the crime scene at the home where the victims were shot and killed. Vu is currently out on bond.

The investigation began when police responded to a welfare check at a residence on West T.C. Jester Boulevard. A neighbor had noticed a car running with nobody inside. Upon entering the home, officers discovered Ryssdal’s body with multiple gunshot wounds. Martin, the owner of the house, was later found dead inside another car on the property.

In addition to the murders, the victims’ white Dodge truck was missing from the scene. The truck was later recovered in Southeast Houston. The motive for the killings has not been disclosed at this time.

The apprehension of Phan and Nguyen in Vietnam brings some closure to the Timbergrove community, which was shaken by the double murder earlier this year. As the suspects are extradited back to Harris County, the legal process will begin to determine their guilt or innocence in this heinous crime..
