A tragic boat crash in Western Australia has claimed the life of a young man, Tye Smith, who was known for his love of football and fishing. The accident occurred at West Lewis Island near Dampier on Saturday night when the boat collided with a mooring and sank. Tye, along with another passenger, was onboard the vessel at the time and both were reportedly not wearing life jackets.

Despite the other passenger managing to swim for hours and find help, Tye could not be located. A three-day search effort was launched by the police and those who knew Tye, but sadly his body was recovered on Tuesday. The police have confirmed that a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
