In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, authorities are dealing with an alarming increase in violence, as two fatal shootings occurred in the same area within a span of two days. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Winston-Salem Police Department have announced that they will be holding a joint press conference to address this issue.
The first shooting took place on Monday night when John Sims was injured in a drive-by shooting on South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near East First Street. Unfortunately, Sims succumbed to his injuries and Davon Morris was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the incident. Morris is due to appear in court later today.

The second shooting occurred at a vigil in the same area on Tuesday night. Ricky Davis was shot and killed, and police are currently searching for the suspects involved in this incident.
In response to these incidents, Chief William H. Penn Jr. of the Winston-Salem Police Department and Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a joint press conference later today. They will address the recent increase in violence and discuss measures to ensure the safety of the community.
