“Fatal Crash in Dorchester County Claims Life of Gary Peek”

Maryland State Police are currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on July 11 in Dorchester County. The incident resulted in the death of Gary Peek, a 66-year-old man from Madison.

According to reports, Peek was the driver and sole occupant of a Ford F-450 truck involved in the crash. The other vehicle involved was a Ford F-250 truck driven by Michael Gambrill, a 32-year-old man from East New Market. Gambrill had a 7-year-old girl as a passenger. Both Gambrill and the young girl were transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The crash took place on Route 343 (Hudson Road) and Bar Neck Road in Cambridge. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford F-450 was parked on the westbound side of the road, conducting utility work with emergency cones and activated lights. For unknown reasons, the Ford F-250 traveling west on Hudson Road collided with the rear of the trailer attached to the F-450.

As a result of the crash, Route 343 was closed for over five hours. Multiple agencies, including the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services, and the State Highway Administration, responded to the scene to assist. The State Police Crash Team is currently leading the investigation into the cause of the accident.
