In a shocking turn of events, two teenagers, aged 16 and 13, have been arrested for the alleged shooting and killing of a man near a Dallas recreation center. The Dallas Police Department (DPD) has charged both teens with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 21-year-old Cristian Adrian Guillen-Ramirez.

The incident took place on June 24 at Willie Mae Butler Park, located in the vicinity of the Larry Johnson Recreation Center. Upon receiving a shooting call at around 10:45 p.m., officers arrived at the scene to find Guillen-Ramirez shot and lying on the ground. Tragically, he was pronounced dead by Dallas Fire-Rescue.

On July 18, the DPD announced the arrest of the two teenagers, whose identities have not been released to the public. No further details regarding the motive behind the shooting or the bonds set for the teens have been made available at this time.

The community is urged to come forward with any information they may have regarding this crime. Detective Thomas French can be reached via email at travis.french@dallaspolice.gov or by phone at 214-671-3650.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of youth intervention programs and ensuring that troubled youth have access to the necessary resources and support systems. It is crucial that communities work together to address the underlying issues that can lead to such acts of violence and prevent future tragedies from occurring.

The DPD’s swift action in apprehending the suspects is commendable, and justice must be served for the victim and his family. This incident should also serve as a wake-up call for society to prioritize the well-being and guidance of our young people, steering them away from violence and towards a brighter future..
