A man has been charged with second-degree murder and stealing following a fatal shooting that took place in Kansas City one month ago. Mekhi D. Curry, an 18-year-old, is alleged to have been involved in a struggle over a handgun that ultimately resulted in the death of Marquis Kindred.
The incident occurred on June 19, when Kansas City police responded to a shooting call in the 1900 block of Mersington Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims in the front yard of a residence. Sadly, one of the victims, Marquis Kindred, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to court records, prior to the shooting, Kindred and Curry had engaged in a scuffle over a gun. Video footage from doorbell cameras in the area captured the altercation, showing Curry and one of the victims fighting. At one point, someone exited a vehicle, and a gunshot was heard. Immediately after, Curry and the person who exited the vehicle fled the scene in a silver sedan.
Curry was apprehended on July 16 in relation to an unrelated incident. However, the details of this incident have not been disclosed in court documents.
