“Dispute Over Loud Music Ends in Fatal Shooting of Dallas Man”

A Dallas man has been cleared of murder charges by a grand jury after a dispute over loud music led to a fatal shooting. The incident occurred in May, when a 49-year-old Dallas man, Carlos Gonzalez, was shot and killed during a confrontation over loud music.

According to an affidavit obtained by WFAA, the shooting took place during a “large family party” in the early hours of the morning. Gonzalez and his son had pulled up to a neighbor’s house playing loud music from their vehicle. The neighbor, 54-year-old Lonnie Holcombe, allegedly fired multiple shots at the truck with a BB gun, causing damage and striking Gonzalez.

A group of people from the party confronted Holcombe, who then hit one of them. In the ensuing fight, Gonzalez ended up on top of Holcombe. Holcombe pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot Gonzalez in the chest. Multiple people called 911, and police confiscated both the BB gun and the handgun.

Holcombe claimed that he had an ongoing issue with Gonzalez for nearly a year, stating that their family’s loud music was interfering with his life. However, a Dallas County grand jury determined that there was not enough evidence to support the murder charge, resulting in a no-bill.
