“Woman Shot in West Palm Beach: Suspect Arrested with Mental Health History”

A 33-year-old man from West Palm Beach is facing serious charges after a woman was shot in her car on Monday morning. Wade Edwards Jr. has been taken into custody and is now facing charges of aggravated battery and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The incident took place in the parking area of the Cove at Briar Bay apartments, located in West Palm Beach. Law enforcement responded to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting. The victim, an unidentified woman, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to the woman, she had left her apartment, locked the front door, and was going down the stairs to get into her car when she encountered Edwards. She claimed that Edwards extended his arms in a shooting stance, and she heard a single gunshot followed by the sound of breaking glass. The woman felt a sensation of heat and pain in her left shoulder, and she immediately drove away and called 911.

The arrest report indicates that Edwards has a documented history of mental health issues, including a diagnosis of schizophrenia. A search warrant was executed at his apartment, where law enforcement found five firearms.
