“Las Vegas Police Search Home in Connection with Tupac Shakur’s Unsolved Slaying”

Las Vegas Metro police have recently conducted a search at a home in a Las Vegas suburb as part of an ongoing investigation into the unsolved slaying of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. The search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada, on July 17, 2023, marking the first time in years that any police agency has publicly acknowledged actively pursuing inquiries into Shakur’s murder.

The tragic incident occurred on September 7, 1996, when Shakur was shot while riding in a BMW driven by Marion “Suge” Knight, the owner of Shakur’s record label. As the BMW paused at a crowded intersection near the Vegas Strip, a white Cadillac pulled up alongside them, and shots were fired at Shakur from the Cadillac. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Shakur succumbed to his injuries six days later at the age of 25.

Since the shooting, investigations by various law enforcement agencies, including the Las Vegas and Los Angeles police, as well as federal agencies, have failed to lead to any arrests. However, Orlando Anderson, a reputed gang member, was previously investigated in connection with the slaying. Anderson had been involved in a physical altercation with Knight, Shakur, and their bodyguards on the night of the shooting.

Retired LAPD Detective Greg Kading, known for his investigation into the murder of Christopher Wallace, also known as “Notorious B.I.G.,” alleged in his book “Murder Rap” that influential East Coast hip-hop figures were behind Shakur’s killing. Kading suggested that Wallace’s murder was revenge for Shakur’s death.
