Rodriguez was standing outside a parked vehicle to the north of the Freightliner when he entered the roadway and was hit by the truck. Sadly, he sustained fatal injuries.

The CHP investigation is ongoing, and it has not been determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. There is also a possibility that a second vehicle, a U-Haul box truck, was involved in the collision.
