“31-year-old Justin Buchanan Arrested for Stabbing, One Victim Deceased”

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has released additional information about a stabbing incident that occurred in Shandon on Sunday night. According to reports, a male victim called the sheriff’s office at around 9:23 p.m. and reported that he and his wife had been stabbed multiple times in the 200 Block of South Second Street. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the male victim was airlifted to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The suspect in the stabbing was identified as 31-year-old Justin Buchanan, who is a family member of the two victims. Following the incident, the sheriff’s office formed a perimeter around the residence and deployed a drone for assistance. The California Highway Patrol also provided support, including air support from their helicopter.

A reverse 911 call was sent out to residents in the area, advising them to shelter in place. Buchanan was located and arrested without incident shortly after 3 a.m. He is currently being held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on a no-bail warrant for homicide. The sheriff’s office believes that this is an isolated incident and there is no further public safety threat.

In a separate incident, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place notification in Shandon on Sunday night due to reports of a stabbing. The notification was lifted after a suspect was apprehended at around 3:22 a.m. on Monday. No further details about this incident are available at this time.
