The tragic incident involving Craig Heuermann, the younger brother of Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann, has come to light. In 1988, when Craig was only 22 years old, he was convicted of killing a New York cop in a fatal car crash. Reports suggest that Craig was driving under the influence of cocaine when he crashed into the car driven by Capt. Winnion Buskey. The crash resulted in the death of Capt. Buskey, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Craig Heuermann was arrested and later pleaded guilty to several charges, including criminally negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated. Judge Frank Rossetti stated during the court proceedings that Craig was “intoxicated and coked up” during the crash. He had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit and a blood cocaine level as well. Judge Rossetti emphasized that Craig should not have been driving under such circumstances.

The revelation of Craig Heuermann’s prior conviction adds another layer to the ongoing case involving his brother Rex Heuermann, who currently faces charges of six counts of murder in connection with the Gilgo Beach murders. Despite the horrific allegations against his family, Rex chose to pursue a career as an architect and even bought the family home in 1994.

The Heuermann brothers’ involvement in such tragic incidents highlights the importance of responsible and sober driving. It serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from driving under the influence and the need for stricter enforcement of laws against impaired driving..
