Arrest Warrant Issued for Fatal Shooting of Robert Aponte-Flores

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old New Bedford man in Myles Standish State Forest, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Plymouth Police received several 911 calls reporting a shooting at the state forest. Upon arrival, they found the victim, Robert Aponte-Flores, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, identified as John Geovanni Pires Monteiromacedo, 20, was involved in an altercation with the victim prior to the shooting, as described by multiple witnesses at the scene. Massachusetts State Police, assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, are leading the investigation and have obtained an arrest warrant for Monteiromacedo.
