“Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Newbury Claims Life of James Turcotte, Suspect Arrested”

A fatal motorcycle collision occurred on Thursday night in Newbury, Massachusetts, resulting in the death of one man and the arrest of another. Scott Dambrosio, 55, of Boxford, has been charged with operating under the influence, negligent operation, and leaving the scene of a personal injury collision resulting in death.

According to the Essex County DA’s Office, the incident took place around 7:45 p.m. on Route 1 South, just south of 96 Newburyport Turnpike. Two motorcycles collided, and one of the riders fled the scene, while the other, identified as 63-year-old James Turcotte of Danvers, suffered serious injuries. Turcotte was rushed to Anna Jacques Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities from the Boxford Police department managed to locate and apprehend Dambrosio, the second motorcyclist involved in the crash. He was arraigned on Friday in Haverhill District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to operating under the influence of liquor. Dambrosio is being held on $5,000 bail, along with an outstanding warrant from Newbury. He will face additional charges of negligent operation and leaving the scene in a court hearing on Monday.
