“Arrest Warrant Issued for Shooting in Plymouth Resulting in Death of New Bedford Man”

An arrest warrant has been issued for 20-year-old John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo in connection with a shooting that occurred in Plymouth on Wednesday. The incident resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man from New Bedford, identified as Robert Aponte-Flores. The warrant was issued after investigators interviewed witnesses to the shooting and the fight that preceded it near Fearing Pond in the Myles Standish State Forest.

The identity of the suspect, John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo, was released by Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office on Friday. Eyewitness accounts of the incident have also emerged, with one woman named Nicole describing the harrowing scene she encountered upon arriving at the parking area near the shooting. She witnessed CPR being performed on Aponte-Flores and even administered CPR herself before he was taken to the hospital. Nicole described the experience as the scariest thing she had ever done and expressed her sympathy for the victim’s family.
