The incident took place around 11:40 p.m. when the man was crossing the road in front of Walgreens on Montauk Highway. He was struck by an SUV heading westbound, which then fled the scene. The victim, identified as 48-year-old David Arnold, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County PD medevac helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.
