“Sarasota Woman Arrested in Fatal Shooting Case Involving Disagreement over Living Conditions”

A 44-year-old woman, Courtney Leigh Wadeck, has been arrested by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a fatal shooting incident. The shooting occurred on Sunday following a disagreement between the victim and defendant about living conditions at a home near Beneva and Clark roads in Sarasota.

According to witnesses, the altercation between Wadeck and the victim turned physical, and despite the efforts of two witnesses to intervene, they were unable to stop the fight. Within moments, a gunshot was heard from the living room, and the victim fell to the floor. The Sheriff’s Office press release stated that deputies were called to the scene just before midnight, where they found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound to her chest. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead by the Sarasota County Fire Department medics.

Wadeck has been charged with one felony count of murder without premeditation and is currently in custody without bond at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
