“Sarasota Woman Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Disagreement”

A 44-year-old woman from Sarasota has been arrested by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a fatal shooting incident. Courtney Leigh Wadeck was identified as a suspect following the shooting, which occurred on Sunday during a physical altercation between the victim and defendant at a home near Beneva and Clark roads.

According to witnesses, the disagreement between the victim and defendant stemmed from a dispute about living conditions. Despite the intervention of two witnesses, the fight escalated, and within moments, a gunshot was heard, resulting in the victim falling to the floor. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office press release stated that deputies were called to the scene just before midnight, where they found an unresponsive woman on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to her chest. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m.

Courtney Leigh Wadeck has been charged with one felony count of murder without premeditation and is currently being held without bond at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
