A shooting incident in south Amarillo has left two people dead and five others injured, according to the Amarillo Police Department. The incident occurred at an events center in a shopping center on South Georgia Street in the early hours of Sunday, July 9. Police were called to the scene following reports of a shooting with multiple injured individuals.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a party was taking place at the location and a fight had broken out among some of the attendees. It was during this fight that the shooting occurred. Seven people were injured in total, with one person tragically dying at the scene.

The injured victims were transported to three different area emergency rooms, with six of them being taken by AMR emergency vehicles and private vehicles. While the five wounded individuals have varying injuries, they are expected to recover.
The Amarillo Police Department has identified the deceased as Semagea D Smith, 32, and Dequincton T Taylor, 28. The families of the two men have been notified.
