Three teenagers in Georgia have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Johnathan Gilbert. The incident reportedly stemmed from a “lovers’ quarrel” and resulted in Gilbert being shot to death after confronting the teens who were vandalizing his home.
The accused teenagers, Sydney Maughon, Jeremy Munson, and McKenzie Davenport, were charged with malice murder, battery, and criminal trespass. Maughon and Munson also face additional charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when the three teens visited Gilbert’s home and egged it as part of the ongoing lovers’ quarrel. Gilbert, unarmed, came out of the house to confront them after seeing the vandalism. Maughon allegedly shot him multiple times before the teens fled the scene in a car.
Authorities were able to establish a link between the suspects and the victim through witness testimony and a phone number found at the scene. The sheriff’s office stated that all three suspects would be held accountable because they “plotted and planned together” and traveled to the location with the intent to commit a crime.
