Six people have tragically lost their lives after a Cessna business jet crashed in southern California on Saturday morning. This is the second fatal small plane crash in Murrieta in just four days, following another Cessna 172 crash on July 4th.
Authorities responded to the crash site in Murrieta at approximately 4:15 a.m. and discovered the aircraft fully engulfed in flames in a field. The Cessna C550 business jet had departed from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and was heading to French Valley Airport in Riverside County. Unfortunately, it crashed short of its destination during its second approach.

All six people on board the plane were pronounced dead at the scene, and their identities have not yet been released. The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are currently investigating the incident. NTSB investigators are expected to arrive on the scene later in the evening.
As part of the investigation, the NTSB will request radar data, weather information, maintenance records, and the pilot’s medical records. However, it is important to note that at this early stage, the NTSB does not state a cause but will provide factual information when available. Investigations of this nature typically take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
In a separate incident on July 4th, another Cessna 172 crashed in Murrieta, resulting in the death of the pilot and injuries to three minors. The NTSB is also investigating that crash.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available..
