The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office recently reported a high-speed motorcycle pursuit that took place on July 6 in the high desert. The pursuit ended in a crash, resulting in the arrest of the suspect, Jason McGee.

The incident began when County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a motorcycle rider driving recklessly on Twentynine Palms Highway. The rider was reported to have been traveling at high speeds and running multiple stop lights. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle, but McGee failed to yield and continued eastbound, running several more stop lights.

The pursuit lasted for 10 miles, with McGee reaching speeds of at least 137 miles per hour. He ran multiple stop lights and stop signs, nearly hitting a pedestrian in Joshua Tree, and even drove toward oncoming traffic. The pursuit came to an end when McGee lost control of the motorcycle and crashed near the intersection of Sunburst Avenue and Canterbury Street in Joshua Tree.

McGee was transported to the High Desert Medical Center for injuries before being released. He was subsequently arrested for Felony Reckless Evading and Parole violation and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.

The incident was captured on video and in photos, showing the intense chase along Twentynine Palms Highway. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional information about the incident, but Z107.7 is conducting an investigation.

This high-speed motorcycle pursuit serves as a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of obeying traffic laws. It also highlights the efforts of law enforcement in ensuring public safety and apprehending individuals who pose a risk to others on the road..
