The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on July Fourth near rural Belton. The incident left a pedestrian dead, and deputies were called to the scene after a motorist reported seeing a body on the roadside.
According to a statement from the sheriff’s department, deputies arrived at East 215th Street and Route D Highway around 6:45 a.m. The male victim was found in the grass on the highway shoulder. As of now, his identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
